Policy Coverage

Pets Best currently offers a wide range of insurance plans with varying levels of coverage. Because of this variety, some plans may not cover certain expenses such as medical evaluations. Except for the accident-only plan, all policies from Pets Best cover the following:

• Ear and skin infections
• Cancer, diabetes, cruciate ligament injury
• Emergency care, hospitalization, and surgery
• Congenital and hereditary conditions
• Dental
• Wheelchairs and prosthetics

Plans and Costs

There are three main service packages available to pet owners. You can choose among Essential, Plus, and Elite packages. These three service packages do not differ largely from each other. But as you go up a tier, you will also benefit from exclusive coverage.

All three plans cover emergency room bills, surgeries, and medications. But if you want to cover your pet’s vet fees, you would want to get the Plus plan. Furthermore, if you want coverage for acupuncture and chiropractic treatments and rehabilitation, the Elite plan is the best choice for you.

The price for a Pets Best insurance plan will depend largely on your pet’s profile, your location, the deductible, reimbursement level, and the annual coverage limit selected. In a quote request for a mixed-breed female puppy with a $250 deductible, 90% reimbursement, and unlimited coverage, the monthly premium for Essential Plans was $32.48 while for the Elite plan is $39.65.

If you get the same deductible, reimbursement level, and annual coverage for a 10-year-old American short-hair, the Essential Plan will cost $44.31 per month while the Elite plan will cost $54.09 per month.

The accident-only plan provides coverage for cats and dogs at an affordable rate. It costs $6 and $9 a month for cats and dogs respectively. In addition, you can also get wellness protection for your pet by choosing between EssentialWellness and BestWellness. EssentialWellness costs $16 a month while BestWellness costs $26 a month. These wellness protection plans cover vaccinations, microchipping, and flea prevention with no deductible.

Deductible and Reimbursement Level

Pet owners can choose an annual deductible between $50 to $1,000 and a reimbursement rate of 70, 80, or 90 percent. Deductibles are the amount that the policyholder pays annually out of pocket at the start of every year. For example, you enroll your golden retriever in an Essential plan with a $500 deductible and an 80% reimbursement level. If, at the start of the policy, your furry friend suddenly goes to an emergency surgery that costs $800, you need to pay the first $500 and then you’ll get $240 toward the surgery cost. But if your pup also requires a $1,200 treatment after a few months, you will get a $960 reimbursement because the deductible was already settled.

Annual Coverage Limit

Pet owners can choose between $5000 coverage or unlimited coverage for their annual plans. If a pet suddenly succumbs to a life-threatening condition, the costs of treatment could quickly go over $5,000, which is why unlimited coverage is a popular option.

Coverage Exclusions

Pets Best will not reimburse costs that are related to a pre-existing condition or non-medical treatments such as special diets. Their plans also do not cover treatments for preventable conditions. This is when a vet has advised certain measures to be taken to avoid exacerbating an issue into a serious condition.

Claims and Support

Submitting a claim with Pets Best has been made incredibly convenient, thanks to their user-friendly online portal. The process is straightforward – simply complete a brief claim form and include supporting documents, such as paid invoices and proof of payment like a credit card receipt.

Should you encounter any difficulties while submitting your claim, rest assured that Pets Best has a dedicated customer care team ready to assist you. Reach out to them via phone or engage in a live chat conversation. Their helpful agents are available Monday to Friday, from 5 AM to 7 PM MST, and on Saturday mornings.

The pre-authorization system offered by Pets Best is highly valued by numerous clients, particularly for claims exceeding $500. This beneficial feature provides peace of mind, assuring you that the expenses associated with a significant procedure will be reimbursed prior to proceeding with it. To obtain pre-authorization, simply submit a set of documents, including an itemized estimate and your pet’s medical records.
